3.6 Million Wii U Consoles Expected to Move in US This Year

Nintendo is doing really well as far as their Wii U gaming console sales in the US is concerned.  The analysts are all predicting blossoming time for Wii U consoles this Christmas season and there has been a steady increase in the sales of Wii U consoles heading into the holiday season. This augurs well for the company, bearing in mind they are pitted against Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One. It is estimated that Nintendo could boast a sales of 3.6 million Wii U consoles this year and could rake a total of $1 billion USD in U.S. amiibo sales.

A Tokyo based analyst who is with Iwai Cosmo Securities Co., has said that, “Nintendo has picked up good momentum heading into the Christmas season. This time they have a hit lineup. Amiibo represents a new revenue source, and we are watching it very closely.”

Nintendo was hopeful when it released the financial results during the second quarter of the financial year that it could be able to boost the sales of its consoles during the Christmas season, especially with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and the Amiibo range hitting stores. The Amiibo was unveiled by Nintendo during E3 2014 and the first wave commenced rolling out with Smash Bros. for Wii U on November 21. It is expected that Wave two will come out this month and wave 3 will make its presence felt early next year.

Nintendo’s profit estimates are estimated to soar to three times, than what it is now, to 36.8 billion yen. If this comes true, then this would be a drastic improvement shown by the company that only saw 23 billion Yen operating loss last year. Nintendo has seen the strengthening of the Wii U sales this year when compared to previous year sales and there is a boost of nearly 100% in year-over-year sales.

Nintendo was able to move 610,000 units in the second quarter this year. Even though, Nintendo has reported earnings of $1.6 billion USD during the second quarter of the financial year, the company still posted an operational loss. The Christmas season is sure to give the company the boost that it is looking for in the US.
