Pitching Bloggers: Be Relevant or Don’t Even Bother

Pitching Bloggers: Be Relevant or Don’t Even Bother

That’s what almost every blogger will say when asked about blogger outreach. And they’re right, when trying to earn media it is very important to target those suited for your industry not as a favor to them, but as a favor to you.

No matter how many followers a blogger might have, you’ll gain nothing if your field doesn’t match their interests. Not to mention that the blogger may not even bother answering to your pitch.

Welcome to our 82nd week of roundup articles, enjoy reading, and don’t forget to always pitch newsworthy information.

  1. The golden rule of pitching bloggers, although it may not come as a surprise, is relevancy and making your pitch personal.  Read more about this in our first choice of this week: How to pitch bloggers: The golden rule, from Musings of an Abstract Aucklander.
  2. There’s always some place left for some basic advice on blogger outreach, so that’s why you should read Robin Cangie’s article 5 Tips for Successful Blogger Outreach.
  3. Want to know even more tips on how to attract all media spotlight upon your news? Check out Lisa Barone’s article: 7 Steps To Get Media Attention The Right Way.
  4. After some good advice on how to approach blogger’s, here’s an interesting statement on whether bloggers should be paid or not for their efforts in promoting your news: Blogging 101: The Pitch.

That’s it for this week. Enjoy reading the articles, learn from the authors’ experiences and share your thoughts.
