It’s all about the influence right?
Social media is really important and I think you’d agree with me on that. Now, you don’t ABSOLUTELY need to have a social media account (or two or three) to be part of BlogDash as a blogger, but if you have a blog and are considering monetizing it and becoming a professional blogger, you should think about creating a social media account for your site so you can start building your influence in the Social Media Landscape. My recommendation would be to create an account in the social network(s) that best fit with you and your readers or potential readers.
If you want to know which social media sites are best for you, think about where your audience is actually spending time and if they are active. Where will your audience engage with you most and respond the best to your content? Your audience needs to be active in order to make your social media accounts successful and powerful tools for connection.
But it’s not just about audience activity. You also need to think about what your own preferences are; a neglected social media account is of no use to anyone. Think about your own writing style, time constraints, and what you can do well. Do you want to invest most of your energy into a Twitter account for your blog? Facebook? Instagram? Pinterest? Or can you handle them all and turn them into platforms for maximum audience engagement? Are you ready to start engaging in the Social Media World?
What’s that? You’re already invested in the social media world? Great! This means you have a Twitter account and/or a Facebook account and/or a Google+ account and/or a Pinterest and/or an Instagram account and/or a YouTube account and/or a LinkedIn account… Ufff, the list is never ending, isn’t it?! And if you read that whole sentence, you’re a champ! In any case, if you’ve created a blogger account on BlogDash, I strongly recommend that you add all of your social media accounts on it.
Social influence is an important factor for clients because they want to see bloggers who are active in the social media world. Social media is crucial for building brand awareness and certain social media sites offer great potential for encouraging sales, such as Pinterest. Additionally, most of our clients will ask bloggers who participate in their blogger outreach campaigns to share their posts in their social media accounts.
Clients are able to search for BlogDash bloggers based on their social media followings so I strongly suggest you add all of your accounts to your profile to give them the best chance of finding you.
But what if you think you don’t have enough likes/followers to put them in? Doesn’t matter! Add them anyway. Audiences are built up over time and it’s better to add your accounts now than to forget to add them entirely. Plus, we want your blog to show up when our clients apply social media filters.
If you want to make yourself stand out to clients, even without a giant swarm of Twitter followers or Facebook likes behind you, don’t forget to fill out the rest of your BlogDash profile. You can use your bio and pitch policy sections to let clients know why they should send their opportunities your way.
Again, you can create a blogger account even if you don’t have a social media account for your blog yet. I just want you to keep in mind that your blog may not show up in the search results if clients apply social media filters. All the more reason to get social if you’re itching to monetize your blog!
